UKTransport MED and HEAVY is a mixed-case font and is used for all text on fixed permanent signs. Motorway route numbers are displayed in Motorway Permanent (light on dark) or Motorway Temporary (dark on light) on motorway signs; these have elongated characters and are designed to add emphasis to route numbers on motorways.

UKTransport Medium is the lighter variant (ie, composed of narrower strokes) used for light text on a dark background.

UKTransport Heavy, this is (as the name suggests) a bold version of the Transport font, for use with dark text on a lighter background.
